Try This 10 minute Tabata Workout

Writer: Jamie AlexanderJamie Alexander

After sharing my holiday tips, I wanted to give you something fun and quick to try during this busy season: a 10-minute Tabata workout (with easier options included), to burn those extra festive calories you're consuming.

Tabata is a simple, high-intensity interval workout that gets your heart rate up and burns calories fast. Not only that but just like HIIT (High Intensity Interval training), because your heart rate is elevated, you will continue to burn calories even after you've finished the workout. It’s perfect when time is tight – no equipment needed!

The 10-Minute Tabata Workout

Each exercise is done for 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off, repeated 4 times before moving to the next one.

  1. Jump Squats

    • Explode upward, landing softly into a squat. Modify by doing regular squats if needed.

  2. Push-Ups

    • Go for full push-ups or drop to your knees to keep good form.

  3. Mountain Climbers

    • Drive your knees towards your chest quickly while keeping your core engaged.

  4. Star Jumps

    • Jump into a wide "star" shape with your arms and legs, then return to standing. Add speed for intensity or step out for a low-impact version.

How It Works:

  • Do 20 seconds of work, followed by 10 seconds of rest, for each exercise.

  • Complete all 4 rounds of one exercise before moving to the next.

  • The whole workout will take just 10 minutes – but it’ll leave you feeling energised!

Why Tabata? This workout is quick, effective, and can be done anywhere – perfect for staying active over the holidays!

If you give it a try, comment on this and let me know how you got on. Remember, a little movement goes a long way.
